North Star installation photos

We discussed North Star all the way back on day 99 of our blog series, as it was our first post all about this innovative new feature on Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas.

Just the other day, Meyer Werft installed the North Star feature onto the ship and Ingrid Fiebak took some really great photos of North Star being installed.  She was kind enough to share the photos with us so big thank you to Ingrid!

Stay tuned for tomorrow's post as we celebrate 99 days of Quantum!

Royal Caribbean is counting down the days until its brand new Quantum of the Seas debuts and as of today, there are 99 days until that happens, so for the next 99 days we will be posting something every day about this amazing new ship.

North Star

Royal Caribbean has been pushing the envelope for years in terms of what a cruise ship can include and North Star is another example of "they can put that on a cruise ship?".

Northstar is an observation pod that is attached to a giant arm on top of Quantum of the Seas.  North Star will allow passengers to go up in the sky above the cruise ship 300 feet above the sea.

For the the first time ever, guests can get an amazing view around their cruise ship and take what is sure to become amazing photos of the scenery.

Imagine the view from North Star of the port you're in and the feeling of being able to see it all from the safety of North Star.  What may have required an expensive helicopter ride before now allows for a complimentary experience that is found on no other cruise ship.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's post as we celebrate 99 days of Quantum!

Royal Caribbean has released a new photo from the development that is ongoing for Quantum of the Seas.  Today, we have a photo of the North Star observation pod, featuring a scale model of the top of the ship and arm.

In the background, we can see a full size replica of the observation pod that will be attached to the North Star "arm".

When finished, North Star will be a first of its kind innovation for a cruise ship, where passengers can go up to 200 feet above the ocean's surface to get what is sure to be beautiful views.  The inspiration for the North Star was revealed to be the London Eye.

Quantum of the Seas is Royal Caribbean's next cruise ship that will be built and will have her first official cruise in November 2014.
