Royal Caribbean plans to restart cruises in December on Quantum of the Seas, and has released some easy to read guides about the new changes that will be added.

The cruise line calls its collection of new health protocols, "The Royal Promise", and it encompasses all the new changes onboard to protect guests from the current health crisis.

These changes include reducing the number of guests onboard to no more than 50% occupancy, testing everyone before sailing, and enhanced cleanliness standards.

While Royal Caribbean announced it will restart cruises in Singapore, the big question is when will they be able to cruise again from the United States?

The next couple of weeks could be a moment of truth for the industry. In order for cruises to resume sooner than later in the USA, at least three key things have to go Royal Caribbean's way.

Based on comments from last week's meeting with the cruise lines and Vice President Mike Pence, here are the three big things that have to fall into place for Royal Caribbean.

The BIG news this week is Royal Caribbean is about to restart cruises finally, with Quantum of the Seas sailing again from Singapore in December.

Royal Caribbean received permission from the Singapore government to conduct roundtrip 3- and 4-night cruises from Singapore that have no port stops.

Quantum of the Seas will sail at a maximum of 50% capacity, and is limited to only residents of Singapore.

Happy Sunday! It has been a busy week of Royal Caribbean news, and we have it all summarized for you in this round up.

The big cruise news this week was the extension of the No Sail order through the end of October 2020.

Prior to this extension, the "No Sail Order" was set to expire on September 30 at midnight, although Royal Caribbean and all the cruise lines have already voluntarily cancelled its cruises through October 31, 2020, with the intention to possibly resume November 1.

The CDC announced it would be extended an additional 30 days, although there is a report circulating that the CDC wanted to extend it longer, but the White House overruled them.

Royal Caribbean announced this week that it canceled all of its Australia and New Zealand cruises through December 31, 2020.

The cruise line said the decision was made due to a recent extension of a ban on cruise ships in Australian waters until mid-December. Royal Caribbean opted to extend its ban through the end of the year so that guests could make alternate holiday arrangements.

Guests who were booked on affected sailings will receive emails with compensation offers and choices of what to do.

Richard Fain has provided periodic updates throughout Royal Caribbean's shutdown, and there have been a few hints at what changes we might to expect sprinkled in all of them.

Mr. Fain has spoken on television, in webinars, and on conference calls many times during the voluntary cruise suspension, and offered hints at what cruises starting up again will involve.

Royal Caribbean Group CEO: "We may be within sight of the end"

Royal Caribbean Group Chairman and CEO Richard Fain offered optimism and insight during the continued cruise shutdown.

In a new video update, Mr. Fain said he feels "more positive" that the end of this period of no cruises may finally be coming to an end.

In addition, he touched upon the work the Healthy Sail Panel is doing, and commented on how impressed he is with their progress.

Happy weekend! It has been a busy week of Royal Caribbean news and events, and we have a look back at everything that happened this week.

It was nice to have a change of pace this week when Wonder of the Seas was floated out at her shipyard.

Royal Caribbean's next Oasis Class cruise ship was successfully floated out at 7am on Saturday morning in just about one hour.

Wonder of the Seas is under construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The fifth Oasis Class ship will debut in 2022.

Harmony of the Seas Captain's message to guests: ready to welcome guests back

The Captain of Harmony of the Seas took to Twitter this week to share a short message to guests that he and the crew cannot wait to welcome back guests onboard.

In the short video, Captain Johnny Faevelen drove around the Central Park neighborhood on his scooter while showing off the ship.

While Captain Johnny's message contains no new information on when or how Royal Caribbean might start cruising again, the sentiment has resonated with cruise fans who are equally eager to get back onboard.

Anthem of the Seas sailed back to Southampton, England, following a short drydock refurbishment.

Along with Allure of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas was spotted off the South Coast of England.

A few Royal Caribbean ships have been positioned off the southern coast of England, and make periodic stops in Southampton for resupply.

Despite rumors online, Royal Caribbean hasn't sold Empress of the Seas

There was a lot of speculation on the internet this week that Empress of the Seas had been sold, but the cruise line insists that is not true.

Rumors began swirling again this week following an unnamed source claiming Empress was sold. 

A Royal Caribbean spokesperson confirmed that Empress has not been sold. Rather, she is in Greek waters for an extended "stay for a few months".

Royal Caribbean provided a business update this week in conjunction with announcing its second quarter 2020 financial results.

The cruise giant reported a $1.6 billion loss for the quarter, compared to a $472.8 million income last year at the same time.

Royal Caribbean's estimated monthly cash burn is about $250 million to $290 million per month during a prolonged suspension of operations. 

Royal Caribbean Group indicated 2021 cruise bookings are trending well and is within historical ranges.

You might have to take a COVID-19 test to go on a Royal Caribbean cruise in the future

Royal Caribbean's CEO said the cruise line is thinking about using rapid testing for guests in order to go on a cruise.

Royal Caribbean International CEO Michael Bayley indicated testing of guests is "very likely" to occur.

Mr. Bailey said that while the recommendations of the  Healthy Sail Panel of health experts are not available yet, he did say testing will be part of their recommendations.
