It appears Royal Caribbean is going to increase the size of the name on the side of it's newest cruise ship.

While docked in Marseilles, France, Wonder of the Seas is getting some painting done on her hull to increase the size of her name.

When the ship departed the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard, Wonder of the Seas' name was painted like nearly all ships have in the fleet. Now, it appears Wonder's name will move to a large size that is similar to Odyssey of the Seas' name.

The Ready for Cruise Facebook page noticed the change in a video posted by Instagram user victoriabalabaeva, where the outline for the new name can be easily seen.

The new name is positioned lower on the hull compared to other Oasis Class ships so that the larger size letters can fit better.

In the case of Odyssey of the Seas, the "O" alone measures 11.2 meters (36 feet) in height.

When Wonder of the Seas debuts next year, she will become the new largest cruise ship in the world.

The inaugural sailing of Wonder of the Seas is scheduled for March 2022, when Wonder of the Seas departs from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

She will then transition to the Mediterranean, beginning May 2022.

It's not your imagination, there are less suites on Royal Caribbean's next new Oasis Class ship than older Oasis Class ships.

As soon as Royal Caribbean began opening up bookings for Wonder of the Seas, many guests began noticing there were less suite cabins to choose from than you would find on other Oasis Class ships.

Considering how lucrative suites are for the cruise line, as well as how in-demand suites can be for passengers, it seemed a strange decision to change the amount of suite cabins.

Royal Caribbean's executives recently talked about why there are less suites on Wonder of the Seas.

A new neighborhood

One big change on Wonder of the Seas is the ship will have an eighth neighborhood, dedicated to suite guests.

The Suites neighborhood on Wonder of the Seas is an area that doesn't exist on other Royal Caribbean Oasis Class ships.

In order to make room for the new amenities suite guests will enjoy, the amount of suites had to be cut back so there could be room for it all.

Royal Caribbean's Senior Vice President, Sales, Trade Support and Service, Vicki Freed, explained to travel agents during a meeting onboard Odyssey of the Seas that ship designers needed to take space from somewhere to be able to make the new neighborhood a reality, "We are going to have a private deck area for our suite guests and we're dedicating more room for our suite guests, which unfortunately kind of cuts into the amount of suites we can have."

The benefit of having less suites is the exclusivity suite guests enjoy will be even higher on Wonder of the Seas.

Ms. Freed also noted that unfortunately the swapping of Allure of the Seas to Wonder of the Seas in Europe in summer 2022 resulted in some guests being left without an available room, "We had to unfortunately downgrade some people who are in top suite categories because we had fewer suites on the line there. But that's all been sorted out now to the best of our ability."

Suites have never been more popular

Something else anyone that books suites on a cruise ship typically may notice is that there is much more demand for them than ever.

Royal Caribbean Group CEO and Chairman Richard Fain said the cruise line is seeing big time demand for suites, "We are selling our top categories quickly."

"So while the ships are going less full than we would like, we're oversold in the Star Class and the top categories."

In fact, on Royal Caribbean's 274 day world cruise, Ms. Freed mentioned all of the suites have either been deposited or booked.

Royal Caribbean took delivery of its newest ship, which has become the largest cruise ship in the world.

Wonder of the Seas was delivered to Royal Caribbean at some point last week, and departed the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire on Friday.

The newest cruise ship in Royal Caribbean's fleet is headed to Marseilles, France, where she will spend some time to get additional work done.

Delivery of a cruise ship means ownership of the vessel is transferred from the shipyard to the buyer, Royal Caribbean.

While the ship now belongs to Royal Caribbean, her first sailing is not scheduled until March 2022.

Construction on Wonder of the Seas began in April 2019 with a steel-cutting ceremony.

Wonder's debut was pushed back from 2021 to 2022 due to the global health crisis. The impact of worldwide port and shipyard closures has created delays in the construction schedule and delivery of Wonder. 

The pandemic not only impacted Wonder's delivery date, but also where she would sail from. Instead of sailing from Shanghai, China to become the first Oasis Class cruise ship to be homeported in Asia, she will now sail from the United States and Europe initially.

Chantiers de l'Atlantique General Manager, Laurent Castaing, celebrated the delivery of Wonder, "At our yard, we are aware that we have designed and built one of the most exceptional ships in the history of the cruise market."

"Wonder of the Seas is a unique synthesis of innovation, state-of-the-art technologies, and savoir-faire of thousands of engineers and skilled workers. World's largest cruise ship

At 236,857 gross tons, Wonder of the Seas is the fifth Oasis Class cruise ship and takes the title from Symphony of the Seas as the biggest in the world.

Wonder of the Seas is 1,188 feet in length and has a maximum passenger capacity of 6,988 passengers, in addition to 2,300 crew.

In fact, Wonder has 100 cabins more than Symphony of the Seas.

Not only is Wonder of the Seas bigger than her sister Oasis Class ships, she has an extra neighborhood onboard dedicated just to suite guests.

The eighth neighborhood offers Royal Suite Class guests private spaces, such as an exclusive deck with its own pool, bar and plenty of sun loungers, as well as nooks for lounging.

In case you're wondering, Wonder of the Seas is not the last Oasis Class ship. A sixth Oasis Class ship that is yet unnamed is expected to have her inaugural cruise in the second quarter 2024.

What's next for Wonder of the Seas

The inaugural sailing of Wonder of the Seas is scheduled for March 2022, when Wonder of the Seas departs from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

She will then transition to the Mediterranean, beginning May 2022.

Royal Caribbean designed Wonder of the Seas to offer a lot, and be easy to navigate.  Being the biggest cruise ship in the world means it has to be simple for passengers to get around to avoid a negative experience.

All Oasis Class ships are separated by neighborhoods, with each area being visually distinguished from the others. Essentially, after you see one neighborhood, you should be able to quickly get a sense of what is offered there. In fact, Wonder of the Seas is the first Oasis Class ship to have eight neighborhoods instead of seven.

Before you step foot on Wonder of the Seas, here is what each neighborhood has to do, including dining and entertainment.

Boardwalk

Location: Deck 6

The Boardwalk neighborhood is meant to evoke a feeling of the old the seaside piers that dot the coast of England and the nostalgic boardwalks of yesteryear such as Coney Island.

Located on the back of deck 6, it is an outdoor area that has dining and entertainment.

As soon as you walk onto the Boardwalk, you will be greeted by a handcrafted carousel. It is a full-sized, traditional carousel and complimentary to ride day or night.

If you're hungry, you will find lots of great dining choices for guests of all ages.

Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade takes up one entire side of the Boardwalk, and features as many television as they do beers and food to enjoy while you watch. There's also an arcade with fun games to play between innings or during halftime.

Boardwalk Dog House is where you can grab a hot dog customized just the way you like it and served quickly so you can be on your way.

Sugar Beach candy and ice cream shop is the sweet spot on the Boardwalk with more than 100 types of candies, a variety of ice cream flavors and toppings.

Filling out the nostalgic factor for the Boardwalk is Johnny Rockets restaurant.

You will also find the AquaTheater at the very rear of the Boardwalk, which is an amphitheater-style entertainment space. You can expect movie screenings and game shows by day and stunning aqua acrobatics and high-diving performances by night.

Pool and Sports Zone

Location: Decks 15 & 16

Whatever kind of active fun you are into is sure to be available in the Pool and Sports Zone on Wonder of the Seas. Pools, slides, simulators and hot tubs are all available to enjoy every day of your cruise.

The adults-only Solarium is located at the front of the ship, which is enclosed in glass and offers a relaxed pool and lounging experience.

If you want a little more thrill with your pool fun, check out the Perfect Storm waterslides. The multistory waterslides’ clear sections offer sliders views of Central Park down below.

Kids can also splash to their hearts' content at Splashaway Bay, which has water cannons, slides, drench buckets and more.

Wonder of the Seas has a resort-style Caribbean vibe to the pool deck, centered around the Lime & Coconut.  You can find two poolside bars and live music.

In fact, Wonder of the Seas has the largest poolside movie screen in the Royal Caribbean fleet.

Something else new for Wonder of the Seas is The Vue, which is a new cantilevered bar. The Vue offers panoramic ocean views from high above on the pool deck all day, and after sunset, it shines bright with a colorful mosaic canopy overhead.

If that isn't enough, Royal Caribbean came up with another new concept for the Sports Zone in Wonder Playscape. This is an underwater-themed play area with slides, climbing walls, games, an interactive mural activated by touch and puzzles.

Of course, no Oasis Class cruise ship is complete without signature activities Royal Caribbean always includes: the tallest slide at sea, The Ultimate Abyss; Wonder Dunes mini-golf; the FlowRider surf simulator, twin rock-climbing walls and the ten-decks-high zip line. 

If you're hungry, you will find quite a few options for dining in the Pool and Sports Zone.

Central Park

Location: Deck 8

The outdoor park found on Oasis Class ships is an open-air venue with lots of plants, trees, and shrubs that surround restaurants and retail venues.

There are quite a few specialty restaurants in Central Park, beginning with the new Giovanni's Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar.

Royal Caribbean revamped its Italian restaurant with a new menu that also extends into the nearby wine bar. Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen is a new take on authentic Italian dishes, including made-to-order pizzas hand tossed front and center, and baked in the new, in-house pizza oven. 

150 Central Park is known for its seasonal menu, while Chops Grille is the cruise line's well-known steakhouse.

At Park Cafe, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and snacks, including the Kummelweck roast beef sandwich.

While in Central Park, you can take a ride on the Rising Tide bar, which moves slowly between Central Park and the Royal Promenade. The bar slowly rises and descends between the two decks, giving guests a great view all along the way.

Right outside Central Park is Music Hall, which is a dance venue that features live musical acts in a club atmosphere.

Royal Promenade

Location: Deck 5

Royal Promenade is like the downtown of Wonder of the Seas.  It is a busy thoroughfare with lots happening around its services, dining, bars, and entertainment.

Spotlight Karaoke is a dedicated venue for everyone that loves to either sing or see others try to sing well-known songs. There are even private karaoke booths if you prefer to sing without the audience to judge.

Boleros is Royal Caribbean's latin-themed bar where you will find music, mojitos, and mexcal.

The English-style pub has the widest selection of beers onboard, as well as a guitarist each evening.

After all that singing and drinking, a slice of pizza hits the spot.  Sorrento's serves up plenty of it most hours of the day and night for no additional cost.

Speaking of no additional cost, Cafe Promenade is where to go to get a cup of coffee or tea, a sandwich, and maybe a cookie.

There is also shopping to be done on the Royal Promenade, where you can pick up souvenirs and duty-free goods. 

You can also book another Royal Caribbean cruise at the NextCruise office, which gets you bonus onboard credit for simply booking something while onboard.

Wonder of the Seas has its own set of robot bartenders at Bionic Bar.  Use tablets to order your favorite cocktail, and a robot arm will shake, stir, and serve it.

You will also find one of the main dining room decks on deck 5. The main dining room is a staple of dining on any cruise ship, and it serves up meals for breakfast and dinner every day (plus lunches on sea days).

Entertainment Place

Location: Deck 4

Whether you are looking for a show, drink, or performance, the Entertainment Place neighborhood is the spot for you.

At the front of the ship is the Royal Theater, home to nightly live entertainment, including shows, comedians, and performers.

Studio B is at the heart of the space. Studio B is an ice skating rink that hosts regular performances (as well as open skate sessions for guests).  It can also be used for a glow-in-the-dark laser tag game.

The signature ice skating show on Wonder of the Seas is 365: The Seasons on Ice, which brings guests on a journey through Earth's changing seasons through figure skating, aerial performances, and lighting and sound effects.

The Attic is where to go to see comedy shows.

Diamond, Diamond Plus, and Pinnacle Club members in the Crown and Anchor Society have a dedicated lounge to enjoy drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and meet other guests.

Since Wonder of the Seas was originally designed for the Chinese cruise market, extra casino space was allocated. The Golden Room is an extra casino room designated for high-roller casino guests, although this space is currently open to everyone. On other Oasis Class ships, this space is a jazz music lounge.

Speaking of gambling, Casino Royale is also found in the Entertainment Place neighborhood. All of your favorite casino games can be found here to try your luck at.

Royal Caribbean's Japanese cuisine restaurant, Izumi, is also found on deck 4. Maki, nigiri, and hand rolls are all available here, in addition to the crowd-pleasing hibachi tables.

Youth Zone

Location: Deck 14

Wonder of the Seas has a lot of great programming for kids and teens to enjoy. Adventure Ocean covers kids as young as 6 months old, and through their teenage years.

Adventure Ocean on Wonder of the Seas follows Royal Caribbean's updated programming and design, including areas like as The Workshop, where kids can participate in craft and science activities. There are also newly designed teen spaces, with both an indoor and outdoor patio for guests aged 13-17.

The age groups each have a dedicated space: AO Babies, ages six months to two years; AO Juniors, ages 3 to 5; and AO Kids, ages 6 to 12.

Vitality Spa and Fitness

Location: Deck 5 & 6

If you are looking to relax and indulge at the same time, the Vitality Spa is the spot for you.

The Vitality Spa includes a Thermal Suite, featuring heated ceramic loungers, saunas and steam rooms; more than 50 facial and body services in various treatment rooms, including the Thai Herbal Poultice Massage, acupuncture and medi-spa services.

In addition, the space offers a beauty salon and barber shop for hairstyling, hair treatments, manicures, pedicures, a clean share and more.

For those that want to get in shape during their cruise, the Vitality Fitness Center offers a wide selection of exercise machines, including the latest cardio and resistance equipment.

Suite Class Neighborhood

Location: Deck 17 & 18

Wonder of the Seas is the first Oasis Class cruise ship to feature an eighth neighborhood, dedicated exclusively to suite guests.

What makes the Suite Class neighborhood different? Royal Suite Class guests have their own plunge pool, bar and plenty of loungers and nooks.

There are also suite favorites including the suites-only restaurant Coastal Kitchen and the Suite Lounge.

Wonder of the Seas also has the biggest Ultimate Family Suite on an Oasis Class ship yet, able to accommodate a family of ten.

Royal Caribbean has changed its mind where it will send the soon-to-be largest cruise ship in the world.

Instead of being based in China, Wonder of the Seas will call Fort Lauderdale, Florida home, and begin sailing from Port Everglades on March 4, 2022.

Wonder of the Seas will sail from Fort Lauderdale just in time for spring break in 2022 and in Europe, sail from Barcelona for summer vacations in the Western Mediterranean in May.

Back in October 2019, Royal Caribbean had originally announced Wonder of the Seas would be homeported in Shanghai, China year-round.

The impact of the global health crisis meant a delay in Wonder's construction, and perhaps even the impetus for changing her homeport.

Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley talked about the change, "The momentum taking off across bookings and our returning ships in the U.S. and Europe is significant. With half of our fleet sailing again, we are encouraged by what we’re seeing. These regions are in the position to welcome a brand-new, innovative ship like Wonder of the Seas."

And what’s in store is the ultimate vacation experience that highlights the very best of Royal Caribbean, reimagines renowned favorites and introduces new adventures every guest, no matter their age, can enjoy."

Another major different for Wonder of the Seas is the addition of an eighth neighborhood: the Suite Neighborhood. Neighborhoods are how the cruise ship is differentiated for easier navigation by guests.

Royal Caribbean describes this as an area exclusively for suite guests onboard:

"The new neighborhood provides a private experience like no other, featuring world-class dining, a new sun deck for unparalleled ocean views, a private lounge and restaurant and much more. Moreover, loved ones can make it the getaway of a lifetime when they book the expansive and beloved Ultimate Family Suite."

Based on released deck plans, it appears this neighborhood could be part of Decks 17 and 18.

The ship will also have a cantilevered pool bar named The Vue, and Wonder Playscape – an interactive, open-air kids’ play area.

Royal Caribbean says the Wonder Playscape will be, "an underwater world studded with slides, climbing walls and more."

Wonder of the Seas recently completed her sea trials, and is at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Naizaire, France.

UPDATE: Wonder of the Seas will replace Allure of the Seas in Europe for summer 2022. Guests booked on Allure will get moved to Wonder.

Caribbean sailings are available to book immediately. European sailings will open for booking on September 22.

The world's largest cruise ship is one giant step closer to her launch.

Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas departed the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Naizaire, France to begin a 4-day voyage to test the vessel out.

According to the shipyard, seven dozen tests will be carried out onboard to test out the ship's performance.

The shipyard will evaluate the ship's speed, fuel consumption, stability, noise and vibration measurements to ensure the ship is operating correctly.

The plan is for Wonder of the Seas to spend 4 days at sea, and return to Saint-Naizaire on Tuesday, August 24 with the tide at around 5am.

What are sea trials?

Sea trials are tests of a cruise ship's navigational and technical systems, which are the final part of cruise ship construction prior to delivery.

Everything from the ship's propulsion, to navigation, to engines are tested before it can be ready to join the fleet.

Sea trials range in duration, sometimes one or two sessions is common.

The sea trials are conducted with a combination of Royal Caribbean crew members, as well as shipyard workers. 

Wonder of the Seas may be the fifth Oasis Class ship in Royal Caribbean's fleet, but she is going to have a significant addition which her sister vessels did not have.

Royal Caribbean made Wonder of the Seas sailings available to book, and announced the major features guests can expect onboard.

Wonder of the Seas will receive an eight neighborhood, which is the term for how the cruise ship is differentiated for easier navigation by guests.

In addition to the seven neighborhoods found on other Oasis Class ships, Wonder of the Seas will feature an eighth neighborhood: the Suite Neighborhood.

Existing Oasis Class ships have had certain parts of the ship reserved for suite guests, but never a formal neighborhood just for them.

Based on released deck plans, it appears this neighborhood could be part of Decks 17 and 18.

While Wonder of the Seas is the first Oasis class ship to have an all suites neighborhood, it is not the first Royal Caribbean ship to offer a suite enclave.

Spectrum of the Seas, a Quantum Ultra Class ship that launched in 2019, has something called The Suite Club.

Spectrum was also designed for the Chinese cruise market, and features 36 Golden Suites and 106 Silver Suites. The Golden Suites and Silver Suites have exclusive access, elevator, as well as a private restaurant and lounge. 

While Royal Caribbean has not revealed the full set of suite perks and amenities yet, Spectrum of the Seas had a different type of suite offerings, including the top tier Gold Suites. Gold Suite guests may access The Balcony, a private outdoor space with the best views of the sea; and The Boutique, which can be reserved for private shopping, intimate parties and wine tastings. Travelers in suites are also provided with a dedicated team of Royal Concierges who provide excellent value-added services, including concierge services, Royal embarkation, enhanced food and beverage experiences, and exclusive room service.

Wonder of the Seas will set sail from Shanghai and Hong Kong, China in 2022.

Currently under construction in Saint-Nazaire, France, Wonder will be the world’s largest cruise ship and the first of its kind to call China home when it arrives in March 2022.

The ship’s inaugural season cruises are now open for bookings.

Wonder of the Seas sailings from China are now available for booking on Royal Caribbean's website, beginning with March 2022 sailings.

The new sailings are loaded on the cruise line's website, for dates between March 2022 and January 2023.

Wonder of the Seas will offer cruises from both Hong Kong and Shangai (Boshan), China.

Between March and November, guests can sail roundtrip from Shanghai to Japan. Wonder will transition to warmer climates and homeport in Hong Kong, November 2022 through January 2023.

Wonder will be the first of its kind to be designed with eight neighborhoods, introducing the new Suite Neighborhood alongside returning favorites Central Park, the open-air AquaTheater, sporting a new look and where jaw-dropping, high-diving acrobatic and aquatic performances take place; Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea; and a 25-meter zip line 10 decks above the Boardwalk neighborhood.

Eight Distinct Neighborhoods & Highlights

• Central Park – The first living park at sea, home to more than 20,000 plants — not to mention some of the fleet’s most coveted specialty restaurants and high-end boutiques. Travelers can unwind in one of the many nooks tucked away in this open-air oasis during the day or drop by in the evening for live music under the stars.
• Boardwalk – Family friendly fun abounds on Boardwalk, a stretch at the end of the ship that is outside and always buzzing with activity. The can’t-miss features and experiences include twin rock-climbing walls, a classic carousel and deck-defying AquaTheater shows.
• Pool & Sports Zone – It is all about the action in this neighborhood. Travelers can catch waves on the fan-favorite FlowRider, soak up rays in any one of the pools and whirlpools, soar while on the 10-deck-high zip line, and brave a 10-story plunge down Ultimate Abyss. Friends, old and new, and families can also go head-to-head on the basketball or volleyball courts or tee off in a round of mini golf.
• Entertainment Place – Where world-class performers light up the stage night after night in headline shows and original productions at the Royal Theater, breathtaking ice-skating spectaculars and more. Travelers can even choose to brave the stage themselves at Spotlight Karaoke by belting out their favorite tunes in front of a live audience.
• Royal Promenade – The pulsing heart of the ship, where shopping, dining and entertainment come together. In the morning, guests can drop by for a cup of tea or coffee. As the day goes on, they can watch and dance as the signature neighborhood comes alive with pop-up musicians and performers.

Wonder of the Seas will be the first Oasis Class cruise ship to sail from Asia, and she will immediately head there once she is delivered to the company.

Up until now, all of Royal Caribbean's cruise ships have been sailing out of North America to the Caribbean almost exclusively.  Royal Caribbean has offered a few summer seasons from Europe for various ships, and attempted to sail Oasis of the Seas out of New Jersey in 2020 and 2021.

Wonder of the Seas is under construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.

This is the third Oasis Class ship built at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Naizaire, France (Harmony and Symphony of the Seas).

Her debut was pushed back from 2021 to 2022 due to the global health crisis. The impact of worldwide port and shipyard closures has created delays in the construction schedule and delivery of Wonder. 

She is now scheduled for deliver in Spring 2022.

Royal Caribbean's next new cruise ship that is still under construction will be the cruise line's fifth Oasis Class cruise ship and her deck plans are our first look at what the ship may offer guests.

Our friends at Singapore Cruise Society first discovered the new deck plans. 

Wonder of the Seas will cruise in China and be the first Oasis Class ship to sail from Asia.

It is being reported that Royal Caribbean will release more information on the new ship in a conference broadcasted from China on April 20, 2021. 

Keep in mind these deck plans may (and likely will) change.

Wonder of the Seas is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2022. She was originally scheduled to be delivered in 2021, but was delayed due to the global health crisis.

Under construction in France, Wonder of the Seas had to be delayed in order to spread out spending. She is still scheduled to sail exclusively in China.

The new cruise ship was floated out in September 2020, but Royal Caribbean has not released itineraries for Wonder of the Seas to book.

The global health crisis has wreaked havoc with Royal Caribbean's plans, including its schedule of new cruise ships.

One of the big questions throughout the cruise industry shutdown has been what impact will there be on new cruise ship orders.

As part of Royal Caribbean Group's fourth quarter 2020 earnings filing, the company included an updated schedule for new cruise ship deliveries.

For a while we have known Odyssey of the Seas was delayed until 2021, and Wonder of the Seas delayed until 2022. But what about the rest of the schedule?

Prior to the global health crisis, Royal Caribbean had orders placed for a number of new cruise ships, including a brand new class of ships, known as the Icon Class.

As of December 31, 2020 the schedule for new ship order delivery is as follows:

"Wonder of the Seas and our sixth Oasis-class ship, which are expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2022 and the second quarter of 2024, respectively, and the first three ships of a new generation, known as our Icon-class, which are expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2023, and the second quarters of 2025 and 2026, respectively."

• Unnamed first Icon class ship delivery in 3rd Quarter 2023

This filing confirms that orders are still in place for the three Icon Class ships, as well as a sixth unnamed Oasis-Class ship. Moreover, the original plans for these ship deliveries is essentially pushed back by a year across the board.

In addition, the filing adds some details about the next new class of cruise ship.

Ever since Royal Caribbean announced the Icon Class would be its next-generation of cruise ship, details have been scarce.

The Icon Class ships will be built at Meyer Turku and be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and fuel cell technology.

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is envisioned as the primary fuel for the new vessels, which would dramatically reduce or even eliminate emission of nitrogen oxide (NOX), sulphur oxide (SOX) and particulates, as well as cutting carbon dioxide (CO2). The ICON Class will also introduce fuel cell technology, which in combination with hull air lubrication means that the ships could potentially be some of the most fuel efficient cruise vessels ever constructed. 

With the new filing, we know its capacity will be 5,600. In the original announcement, Royal Caribbean said it would accommodate approximately 5,000 passengers. This would make the Icon class ships larger than the Quantum Class ships, but slightly smaller than the Oasis Class ships.
